1yr. well visit!

We had Olivia's one year well visit! It was SO much fun! (yes, that is dripping in sarcasm!) First, I planned the appt. at 3:30 in the afternoon, to make sure that Scott could meet me and take Abby, so that I wouldn't have to take 2 healthy kids into a nasty, germ-filled doctors office. Of course, that didn't happen...he got stuck in traffic and Abby had to go along. Usually, our office has us in and out in less than 30min, not this time! Yay, again! We get in there and I guess the lady at the front office got the message when she heard me tell Abby repeatedly, 'DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING!' So, she let us go into a tiny little waiting room that was actually for another office and wait so that the girls weren't out with all the sick people. Not that it really mattered, they ended up wallering everything in sight anyways, and we waited....and waited....and waited...and 45min. later they called us back. I was seriously about to have a panic attack by this time, because here we were the only 3 people NOT sick in the office, and we were stuck there for 45min. waiting. Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful that we weren't sick, but it still didn't keep me from breaking out into a cold sweat while sitting in the germ infested waiting room. (and, of course, Abby spiked a fever last night and is sick!...bleepity bleep bleep bleep!) We finally get called back, I sit Liv down for them to take her temp., she takes one look at the nurse and then promtly turned into a child that I do not know! She screamed and cried and fought and kicked and screamed some more and fought and thrashed about...you get the picture, and we were only taking her temperature. Until that day, I am fairly certain that Abby was their worst patient, but Liv now has that award. They, sort of, got a temperature. Then it's time to measure her...hahahahaha! That was truly a joke. Again, she fought and screamed and cried and tried to run and thrashed about and yelled and fought some more. And, her chart now says, weight: between 20-22lbs., height: between 28-30in....so, she falls somewhere around the 50th percentile...good enough. And, it took 4 people to give her shots because she is as strong as an ox! Poor Dr. Reger had the fun of examining her. It is always entertaining to watch him with my girls. Like I said, I am pretty sure they are the worst patients he has! It has taken Abby almost 4yrs. to not come completely unglued by just the sight of his office. So, depsite Liv's sunny disposition while we were there (ha!), it was concluded by Dr. Reger and the rest of the staff that she is not only perfectly healthy, but also stunningly beautiful!! :) (we knew all of that, though, and we are truly grateful that she is healthy!) It was SO funny....I was holding her and she had calmed down and I was talking with the Dr. and he was about to leave the room and she looked right at him and said, 'bye-bye!' He was cracking up and said, 'I guess that's my cue to go!' haha! Anyways, we ALL get to go back in 2 weeks to get flu shots....that should be a REAL fun adventure!!!

**For my records!

*She is not only walking everywhere, but practically running most of the time!
*She used to be a great eater, but she is getting pickier and pickier all the time, but she loves bananas, waffles, dried fruit, any kind of bean, YoBaby, and noodles of any kind.
*She had her last little bit of formula earlier this week, and is just drinking milk now, even though she has NO desire to drink it. She LOVES drinking from a straw, so that is what we mostly do.
*She says: Mom!, mamma, da-da, bye-bye, night-night, she will do some animal sounds, ball, owwwwww (in a really pathetic manner when you take something from her, etc...hahaha!), WOW!, here you go, hello, mine (thanks to her big sister-ha!)...and she seems to being saying more and more all the time. I love it.
*She is like a mini-tornado. She spends the majority of her day cruising for her next mess to make. She has no desire to play with any toys really. She would rather walk around and try to shred kleenex/toilet paper/wipes/magazines, remove all items from any basket, toy bin, cabinet, closet, drawer, etc.
*She climbs EVERYTHING, and it scares me to death...she can scale just about anything in the house.
*She LOVES her big sister and they play really well together, for the most part. But, the older she gets the more they fight over toys, etc. It's SUPER funny. Nothing major, but Liv will now take things and hide them behind her back, like Abby won't know where it went! haha! They will yell at each other. It's really quite comical. But, they just love all over each other and they hold hands in the car (melts my heart), and she really misses Abby while she is at school.

More Healines from the Diprips at CNN!

Okay, for some reason I have NOT learned my lesson, and I still check CNN.com for the news every day. Here are some of today's highlights!

1. Tufts University: No sex in room while roommate is present (and that is a word for word headline, NOT my take on it! haha!) So, when I see this, 2 things immediately pop into my mind. 1. REALLY!? this is headline news and 2. REALLY!?..no kidding. It would be rude for your roomate to have sex while you were in the room?? Shocking concept, huh!? So, the story goes on to say that they have had 12 complaints in the last few years from students about this little problem, so the above rule is now a campus wide rule! hahahahahahahahaha! I can just imagine sitting in Freshman Orientation and watching some poor professor try to cover this like it was a real, rampant, growing problem on campus. But, my favorite was the student that they interviewed who has this to say: "I don't think it's something that can really be enforced per se," an unidentified Tufts University student told WHDH. "I don't understand how that's going to work." "If someone is going to go and have sex while their roommate is in the room, I mean I think that's kind of gross. I think it's kind of funny that they would have to make a rule about it." hahahahaha! Again, I picture the RAs sitting in training, going over how to catch and then punish those crazy exhibitionist! Thank you, CNN, not for delivering breaking news, but for giving college kids at Tufts University something to make jokes about and for teaching us all what the word 'sexiling' means.... (again this is direct from the article)-exiling a roommate from the room so the other roommate can engage in sexual activity! Who knew?? Or better, yet..who cared to ever know!? Not me!

2. Darth Vader costume, others on display I don't think that one needs any explanation! Again, Thank you CNN! For a minute there I thought I would log on and see what is happening in this world today, but instead you have let me know that the Darth Vader costume will be on display in Sacramento, CA. How can I ever re-pay you for this very valuable information!?

3. Want to lose weight? Avoid skinny overeaters This is the first sentence of the article: 'If you're looking to lose weight, here's a simple tip: don't dine with the skinny dude who stuffs his face.' Sorry, all of my skinny friends...no dinner dates with you. I am only eating with my fat friends from here on out!! I think the article should go on to say that if you want to feel skinny and pretty, be sure to eat with your fat ugly friends! I mean, COME ON!!?? They call this crap journalism!

4. And, just to make sure they hit home with the lose weight vs. over eating issue, Fasting carries risk of overeating! Whew....glad they cleared that up for us because for a time there, I thought that fasting wouldn't make me hungry! I can tell you with 100% certainty that if I fasted for 48hrs, Iwould be overeating on the 49th hour!! hahaha! I didn't need CNN to tell me that, but thank goodness they did! Some people out there might not have known that, and THAT would be a tragedy!

5. The fact that these 2 are HEADLINE/FRONT PAGE stories just ticks me off, and I don't need to explain them, because they are just ignorant! But, just incase you were wondering or cared, here you go:
Tiger may be worth a $1 billion (as in Tiger Woods...THIS is news!! THIS is common sense to anyone that knows who the man is!!)
Jon Gosselin tries to end 'Kate Plus 8' (if any of you still care about these idiots or watch this show, then we are no longer 'blog friends!' hahahaha!)

Update and Keep the Prayers Coming...

I know a lot of you are praying for my nephew (thank you SO much) and I just wanted to post an update from my brother in law. Keep the prayers coming! Thanks!

Another couple of days have gone by and Billy continues to amaze us. He's showing a lot of strength right now. He's up and mobile, moving around the house a few times a day. Mostly restroom breaks and dinner. He's eating better, but not as well as we would like. Unfortunately, the extra layers of skin are tight and have adhered to his skin, causing pulling and some pain when trying to open his mouth. He can't eat anything much larger than a dime because he can't get his mouth open wide enough. Drinking through a straw and cutting things really small seem to be the answer. Unfortunately, it even hurts to laugh and smile. The good news is, this will get better over time. One of my daily duties is to cut away the skin as it dries and releases itself from his skin. Not a fun task at all. I've been so nervous cutting around his mouth, nose, and eyes. I've also been keeping the netting trimmed; I even cut out a spaghetti stain the other day.

Michelle and I are working hard every day to continue to focus on the mental healing with Billy. You all are helping wonderfully with your voice mails and emails. We think there are two ways to stay on top of the mental healing, visitors from friends his age and adults. While we have to limit it, we want to try and start scheduling some limited visitors each night to stop by and spend some time with Billy. Call us if you would like to come see him. He just wants to talk, watch TV, play games, and get his mind off of his bandages.

Important: Please don't plan time with Billy if you are not feeling well or if you have been exposed to anyone sick. We simply can't take the risk. You'll also need to go through Michelle's Sanitizing Ritual (MSR) before you can go into his bedroom. Infection is still our largest enemy.

Billy has a doctor’s visit on Thursday. The Burn Center from Augusta has an extension at Cobb General and Billy's surgeon comes here on Thursday. They also have centers in FL, SC, MS, and AL that they visit once each week. That keeps us from having to make the trip back to Augusta and allows Billy to see the same individual that started his care. Our hopes are that the bandages will come off and give us our first look at the healing. This visit will determine if additional surgeries will be necessary, such as repairing skin graphs.

Sammy finally made it home after fighting off the flu and staying at my parent’s house. He had his first glance of Billy since the accident. Young kids are awesome; he jumped in and played games with Billy like nothing was different. Yesterday was Sammy's 6th birthday, so we had a mini-birthday party with him at the house. He loved it!

Michelle and I want to thank everyone again for your help. We knew we had it special here and are now confident in the over-sized heart you all have. The dinners have been great, although we are feeling a little plump from all the great eating. I need to get out and start running again; I still haven't seen the neighborhood damage from all the flooding.

Thanks Again!Bill and Michelle Rose

Prayers Please...

As most of my blog readers know, my nephew, Billy, has been badly burned in an accident. I would like to reach out to all of you and ask for prayer for my nephew, Billy, my sister, my brother in law and my nephew, Sammy! The prognosis is as good as can be expected, but there is a long road to recovery that lies ahead for them.

Thanks!

Par-Tay! :)

Well, my baby is officially ONE! It's bittersweet. We went home to celebrate with family and friends.

Getting the party started the night before! She figured out how to make the party blowers work. It was so funny!
Me, Mom and Abby decorated cupcakes all night! :)

The little cupcakes are clowns...they turned out SO cute!!
The history of this dress: This dress is 38yrs old and has been worn by the girls in my family on their first birthdays for years. My cousins wore it, I wore it, Abby wore it, and now Liv. I hope I have a grandaughter in it one day! :)

Timmie, hanging with the dogs! That's Cuz, my newest nephew and Tabor, my other brother! haha!

The bigger kids played some games!

Liv is so funny. She is so wild, but she has such a chill personality. She could have cared less about anything that happened that day...haha! She did enjoy her gifts and the paper, though! (Some of you reading this probably remember when Britt was a baby! Can you believe she is almost 15!?, the girls just LOVE her!! I wish I could move her here so I could have a babysitter ;)

Ok, the look she is giving me in this picture is TOTAL Olivia...'what the heck are you doing? and what is the big deal!?' hahahaha!
Yum, Cake! Abby wouldn't touch her cake and she still doesn't eat or like sweets, but we knew Liv would have no problem eating her cake! :) But, she wouldn't touch it until we cut it up for her! haha! Then, she tore in!

'Come here, Abby...I've got a little icing for you!' :)

My Birthday Girl!!

All the little party guests! :)

The girls! The girls were definitely out numbered. (Abby's got the death grip on poor Kensley..haha!)
Playing in the gift bags and paper! I told everyone to just get her paper or water bottles!
Thanks, so much for all of the Birthday wishes and to everyone who came out to the party! We are so blessed to have so many people in our lives that love and care for our kiddos so much!

This cracks me up...this is SO them! Abby very serious and Liv looking like, 'what!?'

We haven't had a professional picture of the 2 of us since our wedding!! I really love this one!!

Busy weekend!

We have had one jam packed weekend. But, we have had lots of fun. Saturday morning, one of my squads kicked off their competition season with a competition at Six Flags!!!

They did SO good. We took third place! :)

Saturday night was Trentonfest, so we headed out to the parade.

Mom and Abby on the big slide! She LOVED it! It was so cute! She wouldn't ride anything else, though. (fine by me, the fewer germ-filled rides she rides, the better-haha!)

Big landing!

With the Grizzlies mascot!
Mom and Dad came this weekend, and Friday was Dad's birthday, so we had a little surprise party for him Friday night, too. And, we are finishing the weekend off with tired kids, one with a fever, BUT I am making potato soup, so that will make all things better (for a few minutes, at least...ha!)

About Me

Welcome to our life! :) Our life seems to be a constant 3 ring circus these days, but we have a lot of fun, laugh a lot and enjoy every minute of it (okay...almost every minute-haha!) Scott and I have been married for almost 9 years, and we are the parents of 2 amazing daughters, and another little one on the way. This blog is a way to keep in touch with family and friends. It also serves as a 'year book' of sorts for our family. Enjoy!!
