An Utley Weekend....

Can you believe that Olivia is over 3 weeks old now?? I can't! :( We have had a nice weekend, and Scott is off tomorrow for Columbus Day, too! YAY!

Yesterday we bit the bullett and took both girls out for a day of shopping. Scott and I both really needed a few things, so we went to Old Navy, Target and lunch. I am happy to report that it was an uneventful trip. Olivia only woke up to eat once. We were in Target (my biggest fear...having to get her out of the travel system in Target, or any public place-yuck!). I decided to take her to the back of the Men's Dept. to feed and change her. I figured that would be the least likely place to encouter any stranger that would want to touch, look at or breathe on my new baby. (I never knew I was a germaphobe until Abby was born-ha!) It was a success. She ate and was tucked back in to her travel system in no time. (I love that you can completely cover the kids in those things. No one even knows what you have in there-ha!) Even though she slept most of the time, she was still tired when we got home! :)

Today, Scott's parents came to see us. We went to lunch at a little diner in town. It was so good. We are just lounging around today, while Scott and his Dad take care of some things around the house.

Olivia getting ready to go to lunch! Look at that hair-haha! There is no controlling it, nor do I want to....it is just too perfect!

Abby and Gi-gi reading. Check out the book. Maybe if we read it enough times, we will make it to the Dr. without TOTAL meltdown and Abby acting like a crazed lunatic-ha! I doubt it! (sigh) Thank goodness she is healthy and we haven't been to the Dr. since her 2yr. well visit. Her 3yr. well visit is coming up in about 6 weeks and I am already dreading it-haha! I am hoping she is old enough at this point for some serious bribery...I am NOT above bribing!-haha!

SMILES! :)

We finally got them on camera! People have always thought I was crazy when I told them that Abby started smiling at us as soon as she was born. Olivia is the same way, and we got some good proof today. :) Scott had his sunglasses on and she thought they were SO funny!

Fun with her Big Sister, too! :)

What a beautiful smile, Olivia! :)

Handprints!

My big girl and her little hand prints. :) I can't believe that she was once the size of Olivia. When did she grow up? :(

***Scott was off today, so Abby and I took off and went to Starbucks, Target and the grocery. It felt like old times. Abby got to pick a prize for being such a good girl. Guess what she picked?...a purse, make-up, and dress-up high heels. She has walked around here looking like Peg Bundy all day.-haha!

Too Cute!

No time for a long post, but Abby wanted Nanny and Gi-gi to see the pics of her in her Halloween shirt. She has so many now, we have to wear them any chance we get (and since it is going to be 80 degrees again soon-UGH!, we broke one out today!) Olivia was less than thrilled about our mini-photo shoot, but she will get used to it. :)

Her shirt says Halloween is Corny!-hahaha! I love it! Look at the joy just radiating from Olivia's face-haha!
My girls!! :)

Back to Reality! :)

Well, today is the dose of reality I have been waiting for. I knew yesterday was too good to be true.-haha! This is the first time I have been able to put Olivia down. She was up from 6:30-1:00 with just a few short 20-30min. cat naps. (I can't imagine why she can't sleep with someone playing the piano or screaming in her face all the time-ha!) And, we had to go to the bank, and she cried and fussed every time the car stopped. ('It's all coming back...it's all coming back to me now....' was just constantly running through my head.-haha! ) While we were at the bank, Abby tried to hand me an entire bag of Goldfish and just dumped them out instead (I mean, that is easier, right?-ha!). So, I was out in the rain at the bank cleaning up Goldfish and trying to pacify Olivia. And, lets not forget Abby's first fit to watch TV in the car. Watching TV in the car is only allowed on trips to our parents, but I didn't feel like fighting it, so I gave in and she just yelled at me to find the right episode of Max and Ruby the whole time until I finally ripped the TV down, breaking it I am quite sure. I did drive thru Starbucks, though. The whole day has involved someone demanding attention and/or crying when they didn't get it fast enough (trust me, I know this is how life for the next 18yrs. will be, I am not that naive-haha!). Anyways, it's nice to have my familiar days back. Things were starting to seem a bit too easy. :) Good thing I thrive and function better during total chaos-haha! And, my other issue (aka: my best buddy, mastitis) is HOPEFULLY on the mend. Some ladies have to wean their kids over time, I have to wean from my ceramic bowls of scalding water.-haha! (sorry, I am sure that is a bit too much info. for some of you...but that's life around here, folks!:) I mean, you really haven't lived until you have had to sit with your chest in bowls of hot water-haha! Assuming I have scared all of you to death that are not moms......:)

Scott is going to stop and get Little Ceasars on the way home. YAY! Neither one of us have seen or eaten at a Little Ceasars since we were kids, so we are so EXCITED that they put one in close to us!...and I believe being this excited over pizza would also make us pathetic.-haha!

Anyways....here is my little helper! And, what a big help she is! ;)

Last night she came in from playing outside with Daddy and ran back towards her room. I went back there looking for her to get her ready for her bath and I hear...'I'm in here, Mom!' I followed the little voice and found her sitting in the dark on the potty!-haha! We have to get these pics to have as blackmail one day, right?

Getting the hang of this...

having 2 kids thing.-haha! Okay, so I am by no means SuperMom....YET;), but we are easing into a routine around here. (I even had a shower BEFORE 9am-YAY!) Olivia was up most of the morning, so I figured that if we left after feeding her, she would probably sleep most of the time. Abby and I decided that a picnic at the park sounded like a good idea, so we packed our lunch and hit the road....and I was right, Olivia slept the entire time we were gone. It is so odd to have a baby that naps and eats and sleeps in the car, etc. Not saying that we deserved it, but we are enjoying it-haha! And, of course, we wouldn't trade Abby's baby days for the world...she just made us work a little harder;)

Anyways, she wanted me to take a picture of the food in her mouth. After a talk about how that is sort of yucky, she settled on me taking a pic of her eating-haha!
And, then she was off.....I love this pic and how you can see her shadow.

Olivia had a blast, too-haha!
Just so you can get the full effect of the hair! Is that hair ROCKIN' or what?
Playing around with my editing, again. I am going to try to make my own annoucements and xmas cards, so I need to figure all of this out.
And, she does wake up!-ha!

Things went so well with the trip to the park, we even made a quick trip into Dollar General and went to get a coffee. We made it home just in time for Olivia to wake up and eat. :)
One hr. until Scott gets home.....not that I am counting or anything!-haha;)

A Day of Firsts...

Well, yesterday was a day filled with firsts.

1. The biggest first.....it was my first day all alone with both girls. AND....we made it! I have been so afraid of Scott going back to work. Mastitis reared it's ugly head again on Tues. and this recovery has just been really ROUGH (I thought I would be spared a little since recovery with Abby was so brutal, but no such luck-haha!) Anyways, we had a really good day. Yes, we were still in our pj's at noon, eating pb&j off of paper plates, but that's okay!:) Things are so crazy and I get overwhelmed when my house is a big mess, etc. but....WHO CARES! If we are all happy, healthy, fed and bathed then it doesn't matter. And, one day when the girls are grown and gone, we will long for these days. Okay, I am getting teary eyed...let's move on to the next first....

2. Abby is having a weekend with Nanny and Papaw. Just like a big girl. She is there now, enjoying the Harvest Homecoming parade. My parents have kept her over night before if we were out of town, etc. but this was the first time she went for just a special weekend with Nanny and Papaw. We are pathetic and we miss her terribly (even though she won't even be gone 48 hrs.-haha) , but she is having a blast and it gives us a chance to get some rest and give the house a good cleaning, etc.

3. Abby let me french braid her hair!-haha! She NEVER wants me to do anything with her hair. Which is fine. Her hair is gorgeous, even when it's in her eyes-ha!, but she looks so darn cute with pig tails, etc. She actually let me play with her hair for a long time. She is just growing up so fast. :(

4. Olivia and I got Chinese carry-out.-ha! It was my first time having Chinese in about a year, my first time eating at the Chinese restaurant here in town, and of course, Olivia's first time going with me to get carry-out. :) Scott had taken Abby to meet my parents, so we had an evening to ourselves. It was nice. She slept most of the time. I guess I bore her! :)

***Sorry....I don't have any new pics right now. I will get some this weekend, I promise. Between feeling bad and being busy, I just haven't reached for the camera as much.

About Me

Welcome to our life! :) Our life seems to be a constant 3 ring circus these days, but we have a lot of fun, laugh a lot and enjoy every minute of it (okay...almost every minute-haha!) Scott and I have been married for almost 9 years, and we are the parents of 2 amazing daughters, and another little one on the way. This blog is a way to keep in touch with family and friends. It also serves as a 'year book' of sorts for our family. Enjoy!!
